Sentient Computing: Virtual on the Move
Resource industry virtual training and visualisation provider, Sentient Computing has announced it has been awarded a range of new contracts worth $3million. The new wins will see a 50% uplift in business and 12 new positions created at its headquarters in Perth.
Most of the contracts are based around virtual training, accelerated by the recent
minimisation of travel. The contract wins are with the following companies:
- Rio Tinto
- Western Power
Sentient Project Manager, Leonie Yann explained that companies are starting to realise current technology can provide realistic virtual environments for learning.
“We are pleased that technology improvements have allowed for greater capability to
transport the end user virtually to site,” said Ms Yann.
“The environments we create start with an engineering model that we process with our Digital Asset Pipeline to optimise and provide functionality. Otherwise, we take PDFs, reference images or drawings and put our 3D artists to work building the models inhouse.”
“Our environments are used to help better understand where workers are going to be
before getting to site. The technology tests awareness of safety requirements before
travelling – so we are seeing an uplift in demand for these contracts.”
